Helping children stay healthy, safe and in education
A school uniform, access to medical treatment or a secure roof can make an important difference to a child’s everyday life. Together, these forms of support help families meet immediate needs and give children more opportunity to learn and grow.
Children of Songea supports around 120 children, reaching approximately 700 people including their wider families. Working closely with local families and community volunteers helps us understand their circumstances and respond where support is needed.
Our impact
More opportunities to learn
Families valued help with school uniforms, bags and learning materials. Most reported that children attended school more regularly, and many felt their children were doing better at school.
Meeting these costs helps reduce pressure on household budgets and gives children the essentials they need to take part in education.
Access to healthcare
Families reported improvements in children’s health and said support made it easier to access treatment and medicines. They valued being able to seek care when the cost would otherwise be difficult to meet.
